SUNDAY KUTCHERI IN THE PARK- BY SUNDARAM FINANCE•FRIDAY, 29 JULY 2016

His concert will unfold many untold tales. It is Shishir Kumar’s dedication to Carnatic music that has brought him all the way from the US to perform in Chennai. Doyens like Vidhwan T. M. Krishna, Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sanjay Subramanian and Padmashree Dr. Kadri Gopalnath have made a great impact on this ninth-grade lad. Shishir has been enhancing his talent on the Saxophone under the tutelage of Sri E.R. Janardhan and vocal under the guidance of Smt. Bhavadhaarini Anantaraman. Distance hardly matters for Shishir who takes his classes through video calls and like any regular student, he is well on his way to grasping all the nuances of Carnatic music! His favourite composition is Syama Shastri’s Mayyama in the Ragam Ahiri. The Bhavam and intricacies in the song have made a lasting impression on his mind. Though he is yet to have a formal Arangetram, he has performed on various platforms. He is excited to showcase his talent to the Sunday Kutcheri audience. Besides music, his other interests lay in debates and discussions on diverse topics like politics and sports. He holds a second-degree black belt to his credit. At times, this versatile lad enjoys cooking as well!
